World Internet News Won 12 Awards in 2006
WiN reporters won awards from three different press associations. Students took six awards from the Houston Press Club. They swept the student radio and television news categories at the annual awards banquet in June. The Press Club of Dallas recognized us for the Best Student News Story and Best News Show. WiN journalists also won four regional awards from the Society of Professional Journalists in May. Here is the award count: Curtis Delaney (5), Matt Dougherty (4), Jenny Yau (2) and Curt Yowell (1). Each reporter received at least one first place prize and among them 5 first places, 4 second places and 2 third places. Delaney and Yau were SPJ national finalists.
